Conservatives think these things are true:
A. If you don’t have a job, it’s your own fault. Either you messed up, you’re dumb, or you’re lazy sack of shit, and that’s why you don’t have a job.
B. The US needs more jobs.
I think these two statements are incompatible.
Assume statement “A” is true. If you don’t have a job, it’s you’re own fault. But what about “B”? Why does the US need more jobs? I think most conservatives (as well as liberals) will say because of increased unemployment numbers–there are more people without jobs. This suggests there are more people than jobs (or that this is at least a possibility), either way creating the possibility that if you don’t have a job, it could be because there aren’t enough jobs. This contradicts statement A.
